One of the leading bands of the ’70s Los Angeles punk scene, the Germs (Darby Crash, Pat Smear, Lorna Doom, and Don Bolles) only released one studio album before the untimely death of lead singer Crash at the age of 22. Equal parts Sex Pistols and Iggy Pop, the band’s legendary live shows bordered on chaos, with Crash having a tendency to cover himself with whatever food was located nearby while diving into the crowd whenever possible. The lone album the band did manage to record, (GI), was produced by Joan Jett and features 16 tracks of unbridled garage-punk bliss.
